Edward Bledsoe II has his hands full as manufacturing manager of Rockford’s Gunite Corporation. Coming to Rockford from the Detroit Metro area, Bledsoe is more than cut-out for the task.
Gunite is one of the leading North American manufacturers of wheel-end components for commercial vehicles. Their product line includes 100 percent made in the USA brake drums, disc wheel hubs, spoke wheels and rotors, as well as automatic slack adjusters for the heavy-duty and medium-duty trucking, off-highway and bus markets and their related aftermarkets. All of these products are made and assembled in Rockford, since 1854.
With more than 19 years of experience, Bledsoe has held numerous managerial positions including managing several manufacturing facilities during the past 10 years on the east coast. We asked him what makes his position with Gunite different, and here’s what he said. “It’s the ‘Gunite Investment’. Gunite embarked on a $35-40 million capital investment program in 2012 to install competitive machining and assembly equipment, upgrade casting operations and consolidate the manufacturing footprint in the company’s Rockford facility. This included installing new drum machining capacity and launching it into production, installing and launching a new slack adjuster assembly line, upgrading casting operations in the Gunite foundry and making roof and other needed structural repairs, and consolidating Gunite’s Elkhart and Brillion machining sites into Rockford and closing them on November 30, 2012.”
Bledsoe says he has a true passion for manufacturing. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and an occasional game of golf.
We welcome him to the local area and wish him continued success at Gunite.
