Congratulations to Dr. Robert L. Head, president of Rockford University, for his role in the transition of Rockford College to become Rockford University.
Dr. Head came to Rockford University in June 2008, as its 17th president. His background includes many years in the banking industry before his career in higher education.
Dr. Head, along with his Board of Trustees Chair, Mayor Larry Morrissey, and members of the University’s Board of Trustees, announced the official transition of Rockford College to Rockford University on Monday, July 1, 2013. Rockford University continues to serve as Rockford’s only four-year degree granting residential institution. Throughout its history, the institution has retained a core commitment to an independent, not-for-profit administrative and academic structure. Concluding its seventh consecutive year with positive operating income and solid enrollment growth, the institution is firmly positioned to invest in its future and openly champion the importance of transforming lives through an education grounded in liberal arts learning.
As president, Dr. Head will continue to be instrumental in the transition to Rockford University and we commend him for his hard work and dedication.
Locally, Dr. Head is on the boards of SwedishAmerican Health Systems, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and the Golden Apple Foundation. He is also part of the Higher Education Alliance of the Rock River Region and is a member of Downtown Rotary.
