Local Leaders Among Transform Rockford Steering Committee

Transform Rockford Steering CommitteeTransform Rockford recently announced members of its Steering Committee. Among them are two long-time Rockford advocates, Dr. Kenneth Board and Dr. Robert Head. Recognized among Rockford’s 25 Black Leaders to Watch 2011, both Board and Head are highly respected in the community and we are proud of them both for lending their leadership and guidance to Transform Rockford.

Rev. Dr. Kenneth Board currently serves as Pastor at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Rockford. He received his formal training from University of Louisiana at Monroe, a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from Morehouse School of Religion at Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to pasturing at Pilgrim, Dr. Board is also a motivational speaker and mentor to public school students.

Dr. Robert Head came to Rockford University, in June 2008. as its 17th president. He was previously president of Urbana University in Ohio. At Urbana, Dr. Head is credited with increasing enrollment by 20 percent and doubling the residential population.

Dr. Head has a bachelor’s degree in management from Defiance College; a master’s in business administration from the University of Toledo; a master’s in management and organizational behavior from Benedictine; and his doctorate in organization development, also from Benedictine. Locally, Dr. Head is on the boards of SwedishAmerican Health System, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and the Golden Apple Foundation. He is also part of the Higher Education Alliance of the Rock River Region and is a member of Downtown Rotary.
