Rockford native, Edith Webster, joined dozens of Rockfordians who put feet to their faith when they traveled to Peoria, Ill., this week to fellowship with their brothers and sisters.
They attended classes, worshiped, and prayed at the Annual Session of the Baptist General State Convention of Illinois, Inc. The Rev. Dr. Louis Malone, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Rockford, is president of the group, which is comprised of more than 300 Baptist churches in 17 district associations.
Pastor Malone gave his annual address on Thursday, preaching on the topic of fellowship. His Mass Choir backed him up with renditions of “Be Blessed” and “Grateful,” which was led by his 12-year-old grandson, Sidney Malone, Jr. Pastor Malone’s son, Minister Sidney Malone, gave a heart-felt introduction, comparing his father to a classic car – old school, but sturdy and able to last!
